Aim of workshop

The aim of the workshop is to report on the hystorical and recent theoretical and experimental results on the quantum behaviour of macroscopic systems. Particular attention will be given to the effects of dissipation. The Josephson effect represents in this context a very powerful tool to experimentally investigate a variety of interesting phenomena, including macroscopic quantum tunneling, energy level quantization, macroscopic quantum coherence and Coulomb blockade of Cooper pairs.  The correlation with other physical systems which exhibit a macroscopic quantum behaviour is also discussed.
